Type40 decorative poster

This illustrative poster was designed for a doctor who themed band that i took part in for a short
time. The poster was made to be given away with a short EP of songs and to be used for decorative purposes.
The original piece is A2 and was drawn at 310 ppi

Whiskey battle commission

This poster was a freelance commission given by a student starting at Manchester Metropolitan University,
they were hosting their own freshers party with an american whiskey theme which required participants to
pick a drink for the entire night. I decided to give the poster a US varsity feel to be reflective of the drinks involved.

When Toys Attack Photographic project

With this photographic project I was exploring a fear of the loss of childhood innocence
showing the owner attacked by his childhood toys.

With this Graphite life study I was aiming to capture the muscles in the back of
the model as accurately as I could at this scale

A Life study created in ink. I used a loose and permanent material in order
to give the lines and shade a sense of urgency and Movement.

YCN Student Award: BEAR Nibbles Alphabites

 This was my first project after specializing on a foundation, the brief was to create a new cereal box for BEAR which used a letter as the hero of a box in a fun and educational way.
















After some initial Research I decided that I would use my cereal box to teach children about castles and use craft based fun to do so.

 My idea to make the box unique was to have it perforated along the top so that once the cereal is finished it can be torn into the shape of a castle, other facts and activities would then be displayed in the image of a castle and spoken by small ,child friendly, knights.

This is the final piece I created for the project, visually I tried to stay true to the companies style and I'm happy about how this worked for me.
The final piece and board were created on illustrator and are all vectors. The board was printed at a2

Current Project - D&AD Newblood Award: XL Recording

This is my most recent project, a D&AD award  for which I'm required to Illustrate a significant moment in XL recordings history.
       this first image simply shows my method of selecting key points from the brief to help direct my work from an early stage.

 This is my initial moodboard which outlines my initial thoughts on the projects visual identity after reading the brief. I incorporated a few rough techniques such as hand rendered type and torn collage.

For this projects research I looked at a huge variety of the record labels album cores which revealed very little about the companies visual identity, this led me to analysing their website which revealed they had very little to their appearance other than the use of black.
        The research also has a strong focus on jack white, an artist on whom I plan to base the project

For the experiments so far I have used mostly rough grunge-like techniques such as spray paint and collage to try and represent jack whites rise from his lo-fi roots with XL recordings.
